There are certain important dates in the village such as the patroness saint´s feast (La Función), the romería, other cultural and, mostly, musical events. Nigüelas is a small village but it is traditionally concerned with music, it has got a local music band and a conservatoire.

April 25th (San Marcos) : Most people go to the countryside to eat the typical hornazo (typical loaf of bread made of olive oil and egg)

May : Encuentros de Polifonía (Musical Poliphony Meeting for Choirs)

August 1st-12th : Forum Internacional de Alto Perfeccionamiento Musical (International Forum for Music High Proficiency) : you can delight yourself with wonderful classical music concerts for free.

September (third weekend) : the patroness saint´s festivities (Virgen de las Angustias). During the previous week, many cultural and musical activities such as plays performed by a national company and rock and flamenco concerts take place. Will you dare to spend a few unforgettable days?

November (first weekend) : Día de las Castañas (celebrated on All Saints´Day), when people traditionally gather together around a fireplace to eat roasted chestnuts.
